Black Winged Stilt
The Black-winged Stilt is a large black and white wader with long orange-red
legs and a straight black bill. It has black on the back of the neck, a
white collar and a red iris. Both sexes are similar, and the plumage does
not change during the year.

The Black-winged Stilt is a social species, and is usually found in small
groups. They are almost always seen near shallow water, including both salt
and fresh water, especially mudflats, salt pans, saltmarshes, and many
human-modified habitats such as sewage ponds, evaporation pools, and flooded
fields.
In Flight, its long legs stick out far beyond the tail.
Nest is a depression in the ground on the margin of a jheel, or a raised
platform of pebbles in shallow water, lined with vegetable scum or flag if
reeds. often breeds in large colonies. eggs- 3 or 4 light drab in color,
densely blotched with black. Both sexes incubate the eggs and look
after the young.

while looking at the pictures of Black winged Stilt, i found this
one. you might easily get confused , its not the same as black winged
stilt, This is Pied Avocet and its a migratory species, In winter it
moves to warmer places. The Pied Avocet is a black and white bird with
a very long, upturned beak.
